 Regulations

 

1. PLAYING SEASON:

a. The summer season runs 1st April to 30th September inclusive. Official opening day shall be decided by either the AGM or the committee.

b. The winter season runs from 1st October to 31st March inclusive.

 

2. HOURS OF PLAY:

a. The Courts are open for play from 9am until end of play using floodlights if necessary.

b. The hours of play for Junior members during the summer months are 9am till dusk.

c. In the winter season, Juniors may use two courts, with the other two courts reserved for Seniors.

d. In the Winter Season, old nets should be used and new nets should be stored in the club house.

 

 

3. CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS:

a. Championships shall be held annually during each summer season for Gents/Ladies singles/doubles/mixed doubles.
Boys/Girls singles/doubles at two (2) or more age groups and others as agreed by the committee. The rules for the Club Championship shall be determined by the Committee appropriate to the current membership. Junior/Senior ties to be played in their respective times.

b. The draw for each Championship shall be made in the presence of the Committee, which will decide any handicaps and/or seeding.

c. The referee shall have power to delete from Championship entry lists the names of entrants who have not paid club subscriptions by the closing date for entries.

d. A timetable laying down dates by which Championship matches must be played shall be approved each year by the AGM. The referee will default players who fail to adhere to deadlines.

e. The Club will buy trophies and medals for winners and runners-up in the Club Championship events, but except for donated perpetual cups, the recipients must bear any engraving costs.

 

4.TEAM PRACTICES:

Team practices will be held during the summer season and organised by team captains.

 

5. TENNIS BALLS:

a. The club may provide tennis balls for American tournaments and team matches. Members will be expected to provide their own tennis balls at all other times. After team matches the match secretary will be responsible for collecting the tennis balls, which will be available for subsequent team practice.

b. The Club will buy new tennis balls for sale by committee members. Money from sales shall be given to the treasurer at the earliest opportunity. Used tennis balls will be sold at a reduced price set by the committee.

6. LEAVING COURTS AND CLUBHOUSE:

a. Last to leave the courts should slacken the nets and collect any loose tennis balls.

b. Last to leave the clubhouse should turn off all electrical appliances and lock the door.

c. Members should be out of the clubhouse by 10.30pm unless playing.

7. ETIQUETTE:

a. Appropriate dress and footwear must be worn at all times. In particular, cut-down jeans, Bermuda shorts and offensive t-shirts are not allowed and anyone so attired will not be allowed to play.

b. Members should not enter courts while play is in progress, nor interrupt a rally to collect or ask for the return of tennis balls.

c. Litter should be placed in bins provided and not left on the courts or in the clubhouse.

d. Chairs should be replaced after use.

e. Abusive or obscene behaviour or language is absolutely forbidden and the committee will deal severely with offenders.

f. No member shall climb onto the clubhouse without permission to retrieve lost tennis balls. It is forbidden under any circumstances to climb on to the roofs of the Kilmarnock Bowling Club premises.

g. No member may take part in any gambling activity on club premises.

h. No member may smoke on the courts or in the dressing rooms.

i. No food/sweets/gum or fizzy drinks may be consumed on court.

 

8. ‘PROOF OF MEMBERSHIP’:

Proof of membership as issued by the club must be carried at all times. A member may be asked by any committee member to show proof of membership.
